Oral Surgery at VDSC

While oral surgery is used to treat a wide variety of ailments, diseases, defects, and injuries in the mouth, neck, jaw, and face, our Vancouver clinic sees many patients who come to us for the following common conditions:

Gum Grafting

We offer gum grafting to add tissue to areas where the gums have receded. It can cover exposed roots, reduce sensitivity, and help protect teeth from further tissue loss.

Pinhole Surgical Technique

The Pinhole Surgical Technique is a minimally invasive option for treating select cases of gum recession. The gum tissue is gently repositioned through a small opening, without the larger incisions used in traditional grafting.

Bone Grafting

We use bone grafting to rebuild or preserves bone in areas affected by tooth loss, gum disease, or injury. It may be completed before dental implant placement or at the time of extraction.

Sinus Lift Surgery

A sinus lift adds bone to the upper back jaw when there is not enough height for dental implants. The procedure creates a stronger foundation for future implant placement.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom teeth may need removal when they are impacted, infected, difficult to clean, or damaging nearby teeth. Imaging helps us plan the procedure and protect nearby nerves and structures.

Comfort and Sedation Options

Patient comfort is an important part of surgical care at VDSC. For most treatments, local anesthesia is used to numb the treatment area. Sedation is used in certain procedures and may be available for patients with dental anxiety, complex procedures, or longer appointments.

Prior to your procedure, our specialists will recommend the safest option based on the procedure, your medical history, and your comfort needs. Our top priority is ensuring patient comfort and safety during all cosmetic and surgical treatments.

Recovery After Oral Surgery

Recovery depends on the type and extent of treatment. Mild swelling, tenderness, and minor bleeding are common after many procedures. We ensure that you are given details regarding pain relief options, food to eat and avoid, keeping the area clean, other restriction and more.

We are also here to answer and questions you have about recovery both before and after your procedure. If you have any concerns, never hesitate to reach out to our team. We are always happy to help.
